Asbestos Tile
There is little doubt that you have heard about asbestos tile. The thing is though, while many people have heard that it is a bad thing, they really do not know just how bad it is and what it can do to a person. This is where a little self education comes in handy because there are simply too many people that have put themselves at high risk of mesothelioma, without even realizing it. Many times, it is not until it is too late that they realize it.
Now, you might think that you know what asbestos tile looks like. The thing is though, there are older tiles that were manufactured prior to 1981 and they were used for the ceiling and the floor. They are tiles that are made from rubber, asphalt and vinyl. Also, linoleum floor tiles, certain paper backing on particular tiles, and adhesives used for the installation of the tiles may have asbestos if they were manufactured before 1981.
It is important to note that tiles, both floor and ceiling tiles, that are completely intact, are not putting anyone in immediate danger of mesothelioma. The thing is though, you can never tell when damage will occur and tiles will become cracked. This is way so many people want to make sure that they are having the asbestos tile replaced just as quickly as possible.
There are those that it is only after the fact that they realize that they have been exposed to asbestos tile. After a little bit, they do not suffer from any complications and feel that they are in the clear from any mesothelioma. However, this is a very serious condition that can pop up as far as twenty to fifty years after exposure to the asbestos.
Now that you know a little more about the dangers of asbestos tile, you might want to make sure that you are taking the steps needed to recognize it, have it properly removed and to inform your loved ones about the dangers of it as well.
